The Countdown is on.........

Whoop! Whoop! The weekend we all wait for is almost here. I am so excited to see all of our family & friends this weekend after moving to the North-Woods this winter we don't gt many drop in visitors :(

This past weekend was more preparation for the upcoming festivities by getting the flowers planted, making the doors for the new cabinet & drinking some beers. Yesterday was my 21st birthday.....again! and was celebrated by shopping for the party & making beds. I guess I'll have a have a couple cocktails this weekend to celebrate in style.

Received a call from Kevin last night that he & his family have decided to join us, go after a quick adjustment of sleeping arrangements we now once again have beds for everyone. We are excited to have him and would REALLY love it if his absentee brother, Keith & his family would also join us.....yes, Keith I am talking about you!!!!!

If anybody has any questions, please feel free to call or e-mail us (link is to the right of the page), but if not.....see you this weekend.

Pre Official Summer

Saturday morning at 6:30 am we awoke to the first bass boats of the season screaming across the lake at 90 mph. The Pokegama held their first fishing tournament, so for the fisherman.....that must mean it's their official season opener. But not for us Waage's.......ours is 3rd annual Memorial Weekend Bash. We are hoping to see everyone at some point during the weekend. The "main" party is Sunday, May 30th from 5:00 pm-? I did have a cancellation, so we do have an open bed if anybody were to decide at the last minute to come up.

This last weekend we spent working in the yard & in the foyer. We did get a little side tracked when our friends, Pam & Steve, Mike & Suzie and Tim & Sue stopped by for a visit and beer or 2.....3....ok.....really 4 :)

Jonathan worked on his research paper about serial killers......Mrs Sailor, his teacher challenged him and said nobody has ever been able to do their paper on serial killers, so that just made him want to do it even more. We will have to wait & see how he does.

Today we got our new phone installed. The lake house has never had phone service except 1 old line in the garage. Now I am able to do faxing for my work.....I'm moving up! Now, as we speak we are getting the carpet laid on the steps. I think everyone is going to be pleasantly surprised when they come & see what we have done to the place. But as it always goes......Come May 28th, we are DONE for the "season" . No more projects, we are here to enjoy the lake, friends & cocktails.

Just a reminder........We have lots of guests that come up during the summer, so please let us know what weeks or weekends you like to come up & stay with us. The more the merrier, but we want to make sure we don't have anybody else up the same time....meaning no bed for you :(

Holy Crap.....It's been over a month!.....AGAIN!!

Dang! I'm so sorry that I haven't been updating the blog. I am busier now that I am a household manager than when I worked full time. But as we near the start of our summer festivities, I do promise to keep it updated weekly. Once everyone heads up to the lake, you will all see what has been taking up all of our time. So I'll give you quick update on everybody:

Joel, my love, is still commuting 4 hrs a day to Brooklyn Park, MN everyday.......poor guy is exhausted and then add ALL the remodeling he has been doing. He doesn't have much spare time to enjoy anything. But as his deadline draws near (ie: Party, May 30th) as soon as that is here, he is DONE for the summer with any remodeling projects. He has earn many beers! Look out island.......

Jonathan, the second love of my life, has been having an exciting year. April he went to Solo & Ensemble competition in Rice Lake to perform his tuba solo and earned a trip to the state competition in Eau Claire on May 1st. Throughout his years in the music programs in school, he has progressed & has developed into a fine musician. We couldn't be more prouder of him. So, 2 days before he goes to the state competition, someone broken into the band room & did about $20,000 damage to all the tubas in the band room. The only tuba that went unscathed was the "silver bullet" which is a $30,000 instrument that hasn't been used much due to it's value. Jonathan has played it a couple times, but prefers his old one because the valves are broken it. So needless to say, Jonathan took the silver bullet to state & wasn't comfortable playing his solo on it & fumbled a couple of times. He wasn't happy of his performance, but dad & I were BEAMING when he took 2nd! He will always be #1 in our minds. Once that was over it was onto the Spring Fling. In Chetek they only have prom every other year and of course this was the off year. Jonathan is currently unattached, so he & Daniel decided to go solo. With Jonathan & Daniel in a room.......everyone around is expected to have a good time. Currently he is on the downhill to graduation. He is excited, then he is scared and then back to excited. He is prepared for his new journey......... with mom & dad on each side of him guiding him down his path. Because he is such a mommy's & daddy's boy.....Jonathan has chosen to attend University of Wisconsin - Barron County in Rice Lake to get his generals & keep the cost down for the next 2 years. As for a major, he is still undecided. He leans from music teacher to forensics or something in science. So the next 2 years will give him time to think.

And me......as I said earlier, being a household manager is keeping me hopping. Up every day at 6:00 am & sitting in my office ready to work. Things have been going great (thanks to Sheldon, who has been my #1 supporter my adventure) & I have been holding my own. There are days when I crawl into bed & go over my day in my mind to think "where did the day go". Supervising the remodeling project takes a lot of my time with making sure the contractors are here when they are suppose it be, fixtures are ordered & the guys are staying on task to hit the deadline......May 30th!

The SSP House.......finally sold.......well kinda. Our contract with the realtor expired on April 27th with no luck. I should say, with no offers worth the paper they were written on. We had never seen such stupid & ridiculous offers as the some of the ones we received. Anyways we set out to rent it out and stumbled across the Kasper's. Bill, Nikki, daughter Molly (12) & son Trevor (20) will be taking over where we left off. The house is perfect for them & we are excited knowing that they will take very good care of our home. Bill & Nikki have decided to buy the house on a contract for deed, which we will carry them for 2 years until they are ready to take over for themselves. So last Sunday, May 2nd we rented a moving truck to get the last of our personal items out. Had a moment .......when we were coming back home in the moving truck, Joel was driving, Jonathan was sitting in the passenger sit & I was in the middle of both of them........We were driving east on 94 just crossing over the bridge into Hudson, when I had the most incredible feeling of peace & relief. Jonathan, Joel & I have been through a lot of crap over the last 7 years with Mary (my birth mother), Ashley & Abby.....that crossing over that bridge, just the 3 of us, felt like we left the crap behind & we were literally starting our new life. It was wonderful.

Speaking of Mary & the girls.......Mary is still alive & controlling peoples lives, she lost the family home to foreclosure (gee....what goes around comes around), now lives in an apartment in Inver Grove Heights & has the other Mary (the one she always talked about & degraded behind her back) at her beck & call. Ashley is getting married to Nick in Florida this weekend. She has been step-mother to Nick's 2 children & is still working in collections. While Abby & the Frogged Prince, Joey had a baby on February 2, 2010. So they, as we.....are moving on in their lives as well. Joel, Jonathan & I wish the girls nothing but the best.

Oh....yes, Big Joe........well, he is still Big Joe.

As May 30th draw near, The Waage's are looking forward to seeing all of our family & friends to help celebrate Jonathan's special day & the beginning of summer.
