What a Fabulous Weekend

Once again......I'm sorry that I am behind on the blog but this weekend kicked my butt. Let's start from the top:

Thursday, Joel, Amy, Finn, Michael M and Lilly join Big Joe, Zoey & Maxx at the lake

Friday, was used to do the last minute grocery shopping and preparations before the guests arrived. Nancy, was the first to arrive due to her getting out of town fairly early. Brandon came up after school. Klaus and Ann arrived later in the evening after setting up their 5th wheel at the Northland RV park down the street. Quickly followed by Wayde & Shelley. The guys hung out at the fire pit while the girls enjoyed cocktails in the breezeway and the boys played video games.

Saturday, we started our morning off with make your omelets while Wayde & Klaus took a vigorous bike ride and Shell & Ann took advantage of the "sleeping is always best at the lake" and decided to catch up on some of their sleep. After breakfast dishes were cleaned up, Nancy & I went into town to pickup a few things that we had forgotten. Wayde, Shell, Klaus, Ann & Big Joe went and got in a round of golf. Wayde & Big Joe were neck n' neck, but ended in a tie at the end. Sheldon, Ashley and Shea showed up later in the afternoon as we prepared to take an "adult only cocktail" boat ride. We absolutely had beautiful weather. We made a quick pit spot at Pam & Steve's house to use the facilities (Thanks Joel for forgetting to put the potty on the boat). After that, we received a call from Big Joe indicating the dinner bell was ringing. After dinner, we enjoyed a game of Apples to Apples and just a few cocktails. Klaus.......did you need another rice crispy bar? huh

Sunday, the start to the big day......first of all, let me say......the weather was fabulous! Anybody that knows me, knows that I have a long history of rain on my birthday. Well that wasn't the case this year. I was very gracious that we were so blessed with awesome sunshine. Ok......we started our morning off by going into town to have breakfast at Chetek Cafe. It was hilarious when we arrived and the waitress came up and asked "how many?" and I answered 18! The poor waitress jaw just dropped and she asked "really?" We all had a wonderful breakfast (because I didn't have to cook) with the exception of Sheldini..........I guess while we were have beautiful weather Saturday, Sheldini was caught up in a "hurricane".......cocktail that is. He wasn't feelin to sunny. Then it was back to the house to prepare for the party. Everyone started to arrive late afternoon, dinner was served. Big John & Lil Andi from Roadhouse arrived to get this party started, with the same motto as last year "Play until Barron County comes". After several hours of dancing, singing, many cases of beer and bottles of goldschlager.....we finally ended it at 4am. We made it another year without Barron County coming to get us.

Monday, guest departure, clean up day & day of reflection. One by one our guests start trickling out to go back home. After all the weeks of preparation to get the house ready for the big weekend, it is always over so quickly. The weather held up, there was a large quantity of adult beverages drank, 52 guests (Sunday), 100 pieces of chicken (Sunday), 15 rolls of toilet papers (the weekend) and 11 loads of laundry, but it is worth every bit of it.

As we welcomed in summer this weekend, please know that each and everyone of you are welcome at the lake at anytime. We have the calendar on the blog with the comings & goings at the lake, so check it out and see if there is a weekend you & your family can come and join us. Let us share our lake home with you, that is what it is here for :)

Beautiful & Productive Weekend

I know I'm a little late to post this week, but I have been extremely busy in preparation for the 2nd annual Memorial weekend party this weekend.  You know me, Ms OCD...........has to have everything just right.

Everything is coming along smoothly......Steve has completed the shower house, Big Joe has been
working in the yard and Zoey & Maxx have been doing what they do best.....laying on their butts

Make sure you ask Big Joe about his adventure on Monday, it is sure to leave everyone busting a gut!

We also have a new roommate at the cabin, Woody.
As you can see by the picture, he appears to be moving into the oak tree in the front yard.  It seems to be a theme that all the guests at the Waage's house has a better view of the lake than we do! lol

Well, in 24 hours we will be up at the lake preparing for all our friends to arrive for the big weekend.  Please pray for no rain on Sunday, but if we do get some.......we are ready for it!!

Love you all, see you this weekend

RSVP's, Directions and Details......

In the next week or so, I'm going to need a ballpark head count as to how many are coming to the Sunday, May 24th party, so that I can order the food and beer. Please click on the e-mail address link below and send me a e-mail with head count for your family, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to run out of food or beer or end up with too much.

If anybody needs directions to the cabin just e-mail me and I'll send them to you. Mapquest doesn't work very well.

Maxx's test results are in........

As you recall, last week Maxx had a life & death experience with the removal of a tumor in his neck........well the vet called with the results and Maxx has cancer. We don't know all the details as of now, we are waiting for the University of Minnesota surgeon to call our vet, Dr Foster back. Big Joe will make his decision in regards to Maxx once he has all the complete information. Keep Big Joe (& Maxx) in your prayers while he contemplates what to do.

Big Joe, Maxx & Zoey are on their way back to the lake, it's frickin Tuesday! ........must be real rough to be unemployed in the summer.
Take Care

The Waage's got screwed again

I really don't understand why we are always the ones to get screwed over. A week ago, we hired Master Dry Wall (Bob) to mud, tape, sand and complete the shower house. He is a local contractor that literally lives done the street from us. Bob promised he would have the job done by the time we got back up to the lake on Friday afternoon. Well.....needless to say the f**kin drunk never completed the job and he walked off with our money. We called and left a voicemail on Saturday morning and he never returned our calls. This has put us so behind for completing it by Memorial weekend and we have had to scratch a number of projects (sorry Wayde...the slab is going to have to wait) from our "to do" list that we were trying to pull off by Memorial Weekend. We can all thank "BOB" for the unprofessional business ethics. Wait until I start putting customer reviews all over the internet......he isn't going to work in Chetek again after I'm done with him.

We had a productive weekend but cold weekend. The sun did finally show up around 7:30pm on Sunday night as we were leaving for home. Imagine that! Lilly's surgery went well on Friday, so she was low key all weekend. Saw Pam & Steve on Sunday afternoon and Pam looks wonderful. She says she is going to be up to her sassy self by the party. Steve, what can we possibly say about him but, ......well he has been a flippin god send. He has worked his butt off at the cabin to help us get ready for the big weekend. He is working in the shower house all this week, insuring that it will be done on time. So anybody that uses the shower house Memorial weekend.....make sure you give Steve a "thata boy", because it was all him!!!!!

I hope everyone had a fabulous and well-deserving Mother's day...........

Anyways, we are on the count down to the big weekend. I hope everyone is getting excited.

No new well......but our first boat ride of 2009

Sorry it has been awhile since my last update. We have been so busy getting ready for the Memorial weekend Party. It takes a lot to get the cabin in tip top shape to greet our guest.

First let me say that Pam is doing wonderful. When and saw her on Saturday and she wasn't totally her sassy self, but it was slowly starting to merge out. Her surgery went fine but they had to do it the old fashion way and cut her open to get the 6 golf ball sized stones out of her. She will be getting her staples out on Friday.

Secondly, we have no well. The jack ass we hired to do it, didn't seem to understand the phrase "We need to schedule for you to drill the well the week of April 27th because Joel is on vacation". The fool showed up Thursday morning to look around and said he was going to go back to Cameron to get his drilling equipment and that he could only drill the hole and not complete it until the following week or after. We tried to explain to the ass jack that we have guests coming and it needed to be done by Memorial weekend. He could guarantee it would be done. So needless to say, I told him to shove it up his butt and that he could drill it the first week in July while we were on vacation again.......that is almost 3 months notice, I hope that is enough time!

Thirdly, as you can see by the pictures, the boat is in and Lilly had her first boat ride. She did very well and I think she will make a wonderful first mate to Captain Zoey.

And last but not least, the shower house is on the road to being complete. Joel & Steve have done a fabulous job so far. Before we left on Sunday, we hired a drywall contractor, Bob to mud and tape all the sheet rock. Both Joel & Steve are good at lot of things, but mudding & taping is not one of them. So that should be completed by the time we arrive at the lake tomorrow. Then we can start painting and Steve can start adding his touch to the walls.

One final note, Big Joe almost lost his beloved Maxx yesterday, but thank goodness someone was waiting over him. Maxx had a 10:00 vet appt to get his nails clipped, heart worm and flea/tick shot. While Big Joe was sitting in the waiting room petting him, he felt a lump (size of a golf ball) under his neck. When he was in the room with vet Bi Joe asked the vet to check it. Vet decided to take Maxx in the back room and draw some of the fluid out and biopsy it. Well, all the vet could get was blood and fatty tissue. So they decided he would need to go under general anesthesia to get the biopsy. So later that afternoon the vet was doing the minor surgery and apparently this lump had it’s own blood supply and she couldn’t get it to stop bleeding. She had to keep her finger on the hole to try to get it to stop bleeding. Maxx almost bleed to death if it weren’t for a University of MN surgeon that happened to be at the vet clinic. He hopped in and removed the entire lump and patched Maxx up. Basically saved his life! After the fact, this lump was wrapped around his carotid artery and mostly likely would have killed him within a short time had it gone unnoticed. Anyways the funny thing is…..Maxx goes in for a nail trim and it ends up costing Big Joe $1400! Not funny at the time…but funny now. So Maxx just got out of the hospital this late morning and Big Joe, Maxx and Zoey went to the lake so Maxx could recuperate. Maybe Maxx should go recuperate with Pam….LOL. Tomorrow Lilly is getting spayed, so she will be down for the count until at least Sunday.

So this has been one heck of a busy week and we are looking forward to heading up to the lake again tomorrow. We also have guests coming on Saturday to hang out with us for the evening, Twila (Joel W works with Twila) and her husband, Joel. Humm.....that is going to confusing my husband Joel and Twila's husband Joel. Maybe we'd better come up with a nick name of two, After a night of drinking, I'm sure we will have that taken care of.

UPDATE: I screwed up or Joel communicated the wrong information.....It wasn't this weekend that Twila & her husband Joel were coming up......My Bad!

Anyways......check back often and check back soon.

Pam Needs Everyone's Prayers

Pam is in the hospital in Rice Lake and is scheduled to have surgery today at 12:30 p.m. She hasn't been feeling very well all week. First she thought she had heartburn and then she was having chest pains. She finally decided to stop at the doctors office on her way home from work on Wednesday afternoon. They ran a test and the results came back yesterday. They threw her butt into the hospital immediately because she has 5 gallstones and so much toxins had been released into her body, that the doctor told her if she were to have waited 1 more day, she wouldn't be here! Thank goodness she broke down and went.

I am going up to the lake as soon as I get off work and will go check in on her tonight. I will bring my laptop up to the lake this weekend, so that I can leave updates on how she is doing.
