Rain Rain Go Away......once Wayde leaves :)

I got so busy since I returned home from the lake on Sunday, that I haven't had time to post an update.
We had a nice weekend and had our first official 2009 guest........Wayde. He came up for a quick 12 hour visit to plan for the slab. He & Joel tipped a few on friday night, then we all got up somewhat early on a cloudy/cold/rainy Saturday morning and had a big breakfast with wonderful conversation. The guys got their plans all down and off Wayde went back home. Not more than 1 hour later......it's sunny & 58*. Got to tell you, in all the times Wayde & Shelley have been up to the lake.....it has been cold, cloudy and usually raining. This time Shell had to work and didn't come up, so now this makes me believe .......it's Wayde that brings us the shitty weather. Hummm! Just saying.

Joel & Zoey have been enjoying their vacation even though it has been a little chilly at night.

On Monday, he ran up tp Hayward, WI to pickup a used mobility scooter we purchased off of Craigslist. Now when our elder, Rita comes up for the weekend, she will be able to go for a stroll. He also picked up all the supplies he and Steve were going to need to start work on the shower house.

Tuesday, Joel & Steve worked on the shower house. They completed the insulation in the walls and got the ceiling sheet rocked. I'm not sure......but knowing these 2, there was a couple of beers involved as well. They had assured me that the shower house will be totally complete by this weekend.

We are still waiting on the well people. Joel thinks it will be Thursday before they start. He will take pictures and I'll post them for everyone to see.

That it all for this update........check back often & check back soon

The cabin is officially open all the way!!!!

Joel & Big Joe finally got the water on via the underground pipe and to the addition.

Joel also spoke with the supervisor for Chetek Township and he found out that all the road restriction were lifted off of the surrounding roads by our house. So it looks like we will be getting ourselves a new well next week after all.

Lots of "hip hip hoorays" for today.........

Check back soon.......check back often

Joel is finally on Vacation

Joel arrived at the lake at 1200 today to start his well deserved vacation, while poor Mom & Finn have to stay back to work & go to school. Totally unfair!!!!!!!!

The Cabin is officially 3/4th open!!

Well we had an absolutely beautiful Saturday with sunny and 74*. Joel and I worked on Lilly's potty pit while Big Joe raked the front yard (here's the back/front yard issue all over again). Finn and Michael just hung out and did some hiking in the woods across the street. After Pam got off work, her and Steve came over so the guys could address the water issue. After reviewing the situation with a beer or two.........they came to the conclusion that the pipe from the pumphouse to the house was still frozen. Fear not, Pam to the rescue. She suggested that we hook up a garden hose to by pass the frozen pipe and sure as shit it worked. So we have water everywhere except our bedroom. Hopefully that will be taken care of by this weekend. Sunday was raining so Joel & I went up to Rice Lake to do the major shopping to stock all the bathrooms, kitchen cupboards and refrigerator with supplies. Pam & Steve came over in the afternoon so Pam could help me with a little Lilly project. I'll make sure I take a picture to give everyone an equal opportunity to laugh. We pulled out for home about 5:30 pm. The countdown until Friday begins...........

Friday morning Joel starts his week vacation at the lake.........all by himself. I have to work and Finn has school. He and Steve will be working on the shower house, so that it is completed by Memorial Weekend. They are also hopeful to get all the docks and boats in. Let's pray for a nice week. Also this weekend, Wayde and Klaus are coming up on Friday evening to direct Joel into drinking a shit load of adult beverages.....I mean so that they can get an early start Saturday morning planning out the new concrete slab that is going up at the top of hill. Also on Friday morning starts his week vacation at the lake.........all by himself. I have to work all week and Finn has school.

Please make sure in the next week or so, that you e-mail us with your RSVP for the weekend. Also indicate if you are needing sleeping arrangements at the house.......I think we have a bed open.

Check back often and check back soon

The cabin is officially half open!!!

Well, the whole Waage clan headed up to the lake this weekend with the intention of opening her up for the season. We arrived on Friday to see only a little stretch of ice left on our Lake Chetek. There also was a beautiful eagle sitting on the edge of the ice to greet us as we arrived. Once we got a fire going to was nice and toastie. Pam & Steve came over for a visit while we were uncovering furniture, making beds, putting pictures back on the walls and discovering that the little water heater under the kitchen sink was shot! (note: the kitchen sink hadn't been hooked up to the tankless water heater, we were waiting for it go belly up before hooking it into the main heater) The guys were going to get the water going, but discovered the "water pit" was full of water that had froze the valve. So they decided they better wait until the pit melted away. Hense, the cabin is half open.

Saturday morning we awoke to plenty more wildlife. The ice that was on the other side of the lake started drifting towards our shore line. As it came closer, Mr Loon was trapped between the edge of the ice and our shore line. So rather than worry himself, he decided to entertain us. He was swimming back and forth and back and forth letting Big Joe take picture after picture of him. (I'm almost positive it was Mr Dickinson!) After that we had the opportunity of seeing an otter passing by the house. Big Joe was sleeping on the job and didn't catch a picture of him. I think we need to put a sign out at the lake shore: "Attention all wildlife passing by....please stop for a picture before proceeding" Thanks the Management :)

With the water unable to be turned on, we turned to our other project that needed to be addressed: Lilly's Potty Pit. Joel installed a doggie door in the breezeway that leads into the back yard (it depends on who you ask which is the back yard. Joel's version of the backyard is street side and Amy's version is lakeside. So it would be Joel's version) into an enclosed fence with her own mini deck. So while we are working hard at making her safe and comfortable.......she is doing what she does best:

Sunday morning we had to get up at the crack of dawn and head back to the cities for our Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly Easter Dinner. As we looked out the kitchen window....we noticed all the ice had disappeared over night. So we can finally say that we witnessed our first "Ice Out" in Lake Chetek. All and all it was a great weekend and it felt fabulous to be back at the lake. We are going to try to head back up next weekend to see if we can get the dang water on so that we can officially say it is OPEN!!

Gilligan's is the place to be......

I just found out that Gilligan's in Chetek is going to be having an "adult" Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 11th starting at 1:00 p.m. This will be the first time Joel & I have ever attended this function, but if it is anything like the Halloween Scavenger hunt, I'm sure it will turn into an annual festivity...........toss us an e-mail if you would be interested in attending.
Also, in the Gilligan's newsletter that we receive weekly, they have installed a new web cam at the Tiki Bar. Go check it out: http://www.gilliganschetek.com
Take care
As always........check back soon and often!
