Once again......I'm sorry that I am behind on the blog but this weekend kicked my butt. Let's start from the top:
Thursday, Joel, Amy, Finn, Michael M and Lilly join Big Joe, Zoey & Maxx at the lake
Friday, was used to do the last minute grocery shopping and preparations before the guests arrived. Nancy, was the first to arrive due to her getting out of town fairly early. Brandon came up after school. Klaus and Ann arrived later in the evening after setting up their 5th wheel at the Northland RV park down the street. Quickly followed by Wayde & Shelley. The guys hung out at the fire pit while the girls enjoyed cocktails in the breezeway and the boys played video games.
Saturday, we started our morning off with make your omelets while Wayde & Klaus took a vigorous bike ride and Shell & Ann took advantage of the "sleeping is always best at the lake" and decided to catch up on some of their sleep. After breakfast dishes were cleaned up, Nancy & I went into town to pickup a few things that we had forgotten. Wayde, Shell, Klaus, Ann & Big Joe went and got in a round of golf. Wayde & Big Joe were neck n' neck, but ended in a tie at the end. Sheldon, Ashley and Shea showed up later in the afternoon as we prepared to take an "adult only cocktail" boat ride. We absolutely had beautiful weather. We made a quick pit spot at Pam & Steve's house to use the facilities (Thanks Joel for forgetting to put the potty on the boat). After that, we received a call from Big Joe indicating the dinner bell was ringing. After dinner, we enjoyed a game of Apples to Apples and just a few cocktails. Klaus.......did you need another rice crispy bar? huh
Sunday, the start to the big day......first of all, let me say......the weather was fabulous! Anybody that knows me, knows that I have a long history of rain on my birthday. Well that wasn't the case this year. I was very gracious that we were so blessed with awesome sunshine. Ok......we started our morning off by going into town to have breakfast at Chetek Cafe. It was hilarious when we arrived and the waitress came up and asked "how many?" and I answered 18! The poor waitress jaw just dropped and she asked "really?" We all had a wonderful breakfast (because I didn't have to cook) with the exception of Sheldini..........I guess while we were have beautiful weather Saturday, Sheldini was caught up in a "hurricane".......cocktail that is. He wasn't feelin to sunny. Then it was back to the house to prepare for the party. Everyone started to arrive late afternoon, dinner was served. Big John & Lil Andi from Roadhouse arrived to get this party started, with the same motto as last year "Play until Barron County comes". After several hours of dancing, singing, many cases of beer and bottles of goldschlager.....we finally ended it at 4am. We made it another year without Barron County coming to get us.
Monday, guest departure, clean up day & day of reflection. One by one our guests start trickling out to go back home. After all the weeks of preparation to get the house ready for the big weekend, it is always over so quickly. The weather held up, there was a large quantity of adult beverages drank, 52 guests (Sunday), 100 pieces of chicken (Sunday), 15 rolls of toilet papers (the weekend) and 11 loads of laundry, but it is worth every bit of it.
As we welcomed in summer this weekend, please know that each and everyone of you are welcome at the lake at anytime. We have the calendar on the blog with the comings & goings at the lake, so check it out and see if there is a weekend you & your family can come and join us. Let us share our lake home with you, that is what it is here for :)
